Stainless steel appliances look so shiny and pretty when your first get them, or right after the maid has been to your house. But soon they lose that shiny luster with fingerprints, water, spills from food, and just a busy kitchen. The kitchen is one of the busiest rooms in your home. Everyone eating all the time!

Stainless steel cleaning wipes are an easy and effective way to remove smudges quickly. The wipes are specifically made to be gentle on your appliance. Never use a stainless-steel wool pad, bleach, ammonia, or scouring powder on the surface as it may scratch the surface of the appliance. Make sure to wipe the surface towards the grain of the finish. Streaks happen when wiping in a circular motion.

If you do not have a stainless-steel wipe you can use homemade products. Mix a teaspoon of mild dish detergent (Dawn) and 1 quart of hot water in sink. Using a microfiber soft cloth, rub a small amount onto the cloth and wipe surface going towards the grain. Wipe clean with just water on the cloth and dry with towel to remove water spots. If you still see smudges, spray a dry microfiber cloth with ammonia and vinegar free window cleaner. Then wipe dry. Another alternative is to use a light coating of mineral oil and buff clean.

Stainless steel sinks need cleaning too! Rinse the sink with warm water to remove all existing food items. Coat the sink with baking soda and scrub in direction of grain. Add a quick spray of white vinegar and rinse again. If still not sparkling, make a paste of cream of tartar and vinegar to rub on sink. Rinse and buff with olive oil.

Abracadabra! A sparkling clean sink and appliances!
