Everything seems so simple and tidy after you get the Christmas tree down and the decorations put away until next year. But wait! There are still pine needles under the couch! Before you move the furniture back to the original position, really vacuum all around the area.

Holiday linens need a thorough washing and pre-treating for stains. If they are bad, throw them out and buy new next year.

This is a perfect time to do a steam cleaning of rugs, carpets, and upholstery. Finger foods, young children, and Christmas décor add to the gunk accumulated on your furniture and carpets. If you see any noticeable spots, try to remove stains before they set in permanently.

Dust the decorative plants, picture frames, bookshelves, and window sills. Consider hiring a professional window cleaner to get those hard to reach higher windows.

Beginning with the kitchen area remove old holiday foods. If you haven’t frozen them, throw any old food away. Clean off the stove, range hood, and the oven. The oven has worked hard over the last month and likely needs some attention. Scrub down kitchen cabinets of grease and fingermarks. Wipe down the baseboards. Do you have a junk drawer in the kitchen? (Don’t we all?) It’s a good time to sort through what is in there.

Finally, mop and clean your floors in the kitchen area. They have had a lot of traffic.

Do you have holiday clothes that need to be stored away? Sort through your closet and see what can be given away that you haven’t worn in a year. You may be surprised by what you find in there that hasn’t been worn.

Does it seem overwhelming? Call us to schedule a Deep Clean. It is an optimum time to thoroughly clean everything!
