If you’ve ever suffered from acid indigestion or heartburn, then you’ve likely became good buddies with Alka Seltzer. Available in tablet form, this medicine is renowned for providing quick relief. But did you know that you can use these same tablets to clean your home? That’s right, and best of all, the tablets are rather inexpensive. Unclogging a Clogged Sink
Just the same as Alka Seltzer provides relief for your indigestion, it can also provide relief for a clogged sink. Simply drop two to four tablets down the drain of the sink and then immediately pour a cup of white vinegar down the drain too. While you’re waiting, boil a pot of hot water, and once 10 minutes has passed, pour the water down the drain. The indigestion — aka the clog in the drain — should be resolved.
Quit Scrubbing Your Dishes So Hard
There’s nothing that tastes better than a home cooked meal. But the aftermath often leads to a sink full of dirty dishes, and while a dishwasher can come in handy for cleaning most bowls, plates and cutlery items, your glass baking dishware should be washed by hand. If you have a glass baking dish with stubborn food stuck to it, simply pour hot water in it and throw in a two to three Alka Seltzer tablets. After an hour, the dish should come perfectly clean without you having to scrub it hard. If it doesn’t, here’s another remedy you can try.
Give the Kitchen & Bathroom a Quick Makeover
One of the simplest cleaning tasks you can perform to transform your kitchen and bathroom is simply wiping everything down with a damp cloth. To make sure everything shines like the top of the Chrysler Building, dampen your cloth or sponge in a cup of water that has three tablets of dissolved Alka Seltzer tablets in it.
Get Your Jars Sparkling Clean
Have any jars or glass vases that you find hard to clean, especially narrow neck jars? If so, fill them water, drop one tablet of Alka Seltzer in each of them and let them sit for about an hour. Then simply pour the water out and rinse with warm water; they’ll be sparkling clean.
